My name is Laura Eydmann and I am a freelance graphic designer and artist living and working in Brixham, by the sea in Devon. I love being creative and when I’m not designing, I’m making things for my online store Sunshine and Shenanigans. I concentrate primarily on wedding cake toppers, party favours, greetings cards and invitations, but there are also a few of my personal art pieces there as well.
I studied Graphic Design with Typography at the University of Plymouth in 2009 and after a brief spell working part time for Devon Carers as their Communication Officer, I started Laurapakora Design. I became a full time freelance Graphic Designer, and Devon Carers were my first regular client! Over the last 10 years I have worked for many different companies, individuals and organisations, including Age England UK, the Met Office,Paignton Zoo and Devon Carers, on print and web projects. I like to learn, and have taken many online courses and tutorials to learn new skills and to keep up to date with software and trends, including a Centre of Excellence Calligraphy Diploma, drawing, painting and calligraphy courses and Adobe Software tutorials. I like to be experimental and creative, and I’m friendly and enthusiastic.
I decided to study for my Masters Degree with Falmouth last year. I had proactively trying to find more work and create my own work with my Etsy store during lockdown, and felt like I was floundering a little with my career. I wasn’t sure what to do next, how to improve, and needed to do something different. I have always wanted to study for my Masters Degree, and decided to go for it, and to see where it takes me next!
